Amsterdam Marketing is the city marketing organisation of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, active in the fields of promotion, information, research and services. Our ambition is to put this region on the map as one of the five most attractive metropolitan areas in Europe for its residents, visitors, businesses and influential groups. Under the motto 'I amsterdam', the region is presented as a dynamic place to live and work, an attractive travel destination and a test market for innovation.
Although sea cruises continue to be popular in the Amsterdam port region, river cruises are currently experiencing spectacular growth. In 2013, around 2,400 river cruise ships visited Noord-Holland, of which no fewer than 1,500 called in at Amsterdam. The number of sea cruise ships in Amsterdam and IJmuiden decreased last year by six percent to 176, but is increasing once more in 2014 to 189 calls.
Amsterdam Cruise Port (ACP), the promotional foundation for sea and river cruises in the North Sea Canal region, can look back on a successful year. Not only did the number of visits in both categories remain high, the terminals in Amsterdam and IJmuiden also reinforced their public relations and marketing collaboration. Under the name ‘Cruise Terminals Amsterdam’, PTA and Felison Cruise Terminal will start working more closely together, for example by carrying out joint promotional missions to ship owners and holding joint presentations at trade fairs.
